TMPGEnc PGMX PLAYER

TMPGEnc PGMX PLAYER is specialized software designed for the playback of Pegasys' Next Generation multimedia file format, known as "PGMX". This format consolidates multiple video clips, menus, and chapters into a single cohesive file.

What is a PGMX File?

The PGMX file, short for Pegasys Multimedia Box, is an innovative format developed by Pegasys. It allows the integration of both menu and video content into one file, typically with extensions .pgmx or .mkv. Utilizing the H.264/AVC codec for video streams, PGMX files are not constrained by physical media limitations such as those found in DVD or Blu-ray formats. This flexibility enables users to incorporate videos from various sources, including smartphone recordings that may not adhere to conventional DVD or Blu-ray standards, as well as high-resolution 4K content (4096×2304). The PGMX format significantly enhances user options regarding video quality and resolution.

Furthermore, PGMX files are equipped with a navigational menu system that seamlessly links to multiple videos within a single file. This integration eliminates the complex folder structures typically associated with DVD-Video and Blu-ray formats.

Simple Playback Controls

The player features intuitive playback controls that are accessible to users of all experience levels. Users have the option to keep controls visible at all times or enable automatic hiding for a less cluttered screen. Additionally, TMPGEnc PGMX PLAYER supports gesture controls, such as swiping to navigate between pages and pinch-to-zoom functionality for enhanced interaction.

Multiple Subtitles and Audio Selection Support

In a PGMX file, it is possible to include multiple audio streams and subtitle options. TMPGEnc PGMX PLAYER facilitates easy switching between these audio tracks at any point during playback. For subtitles in "Text subtitles" format (indicated by a "T" icon), users can customize their viewing experience by adjusting font size, color, border, and other display settings.

File Information Display

Beyond multimedia content, PGMX files can contain metadata such as artist names and comments. TMPGEnc PGMX PLAYER allows users to access this information conveniently by tapping and holding on the File List Page.

Resume Playback Function

The software features a resume playback function, which simplifies the process of returning to a previously watched segment, even amidst menu navigation.

*Please note that creating PGMX files requires "TMPGEnc PGMX CREATOR (sold separately, available for Windows only)." The swipe function is supported exclusively for files created in TMPGEnc PGMX CREATOR version 1.0.4.5 or later.
